Dr. Christian Heine studied physics at Dortmund University with a minor in medicine. After completing his thesis on studies using nuclear magnetic resonance methods (NMR) in the field of physical chemistry, he moved to the Institute for Technical Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry of RWTH Aachen University in 1998. Whilst working on his PhD, which dealt with the application of NMR imaging techniques (MRI), he spent some time in Albuquerque, New Mexico, undertaking research work. After he was awarded his doctorate in 2001, he completed his training to become a German Patent Attorney. Followed by training stints at the patent infringement department of the Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht) in Düsseldorf, at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the Federal Patent Court in Munich, Dr. Christian Heine qualified in 2004 as German Patent Attorney. In 2006 he received the licence to practice as a European Patent Attorney. 2008 Dr. Christian Heine was made partner by KNH Patentanwälte; he has a wealth of experience in patent prosecution and infringement procedures as well as in the field of employee invention law. Since 2013 he teaches at the FH Aachen (University of Applied Sciences) in the field of intellectual property law.
Advising German and international clients in all fields that involve the protection of industrial property rights, in particular, with regard to obtaining and invali dating patents in Europe and Germany, issuing expert opinions on the legal validity and infringement of patents, conducting opposition proceedings and engaging in matters involving the German Law on Employee Inventions.
